In recent months there are many rumors and leaks that have reached us about the iPhone 8, to the point that sometimes we almost forget that this will not be the only iPhone that Apple is going to launch in 2017: the company will also present this year two models with an LCD screen of 4,7 and 5,5 inches, the iPhone 7s and 7s iPhone Plus, which will have a design very similar to current iPhones.
One of the few design changes that the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will have will be the material from which its back will be made, which will go from the aluminum of the current models to glass, and now, a new rumor has appeared according to which this material change will cause the devices to slightly increase their proportions.
The rumor has appeared on the German blog giga apple, which has been made with some schematics of the iPhone 7s through a case manufacturer who obtained them from a source close to Foxconn. According to this scheme, all the dimensions of the iPhone 7s will be slightly larger than those of the iPhone 7.
It is not the first time something like this happens. Apple also slightly increased the thickness of the iPhone 6s with respect to the iPhone 6 two years ago, due to Touch 3D. On this occasion the change, if true, will be due to the change from aluminum to glass, a change that will allow the wireless charging.
If Giga Apple's information turns out to be true, the iPhone 7s will be 7,21mm thick, compared to 7,1mm on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6s. In width, the iPhone 7s will measure 67,27 mm, while the iPhone 7 measures 67,14, and in terms of length, it will go from 138,31 mm to 138,44 mm. As a result of the slight increase in thickness, the rear camera will protrude less than currently, going from measuring 8,18 mm to measuring 7,92 mm.
Recently we were able to see some photos of a iPhone 7s Plus mockup which showed a device with a glass back, which allows the antenna bands to be eliminated, and stainless steel sides.
